Add an HTML signature with a QR code in Outlook
Outlook for Windows renders HTML with the Word engine, not a browser engine. A signature built with modern layout techniques falls apart there without warning — and it is the recipient who sees it, never the sender.
The steps
- Click “Copy signature” above.
- Outlook web: gear icon → Mail → Compose and reply.
- Create a signature and paste it in.
- Select it for new messages and replies, then save.
Outlook Windows: File → Options → Mail → Signatures.
If the layout breaks, paste with Ctrl+Shift+V (paste without source formatting), then paste normally again.
The pitfall to know about
If you edit the signature inside Outlook's editing area, Outlook rewrites the code its own way and may move the images. Paste it, then close the window without touching it.
Why put a QR code in a signature?
A professional sends several thousand emails a year, and each one shows their signature to someone. A QR code placed there leads to a business card whose contents can change at any time: you change number, the card follows, and the messages already sent stay correct.
